Giuseppe De Fazio was born in 1955 in Catanzaro.
Here he attended the Artistic High School and in 1978 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts where the following year he was the teaching assistant of the Chair of Painting.
In 1977, upon a few meetings with philosopher Giovanni Marzano, he learnt about Mineralogical Paintings and he began to develop his own significant contribution.
In Rome 1978 ,he met mineralogical painter Guccione Giuseppe Masci, with whom he established a lasting friendship and artist relationship.
In 1982 the two of them reinforced their common interest in creating a great four hand manifesto-work, which was exhibited in Rome that same year.
After a short time spent between Milano and Novara, in 1985 De Fazio moved to Brescia where he taught until 2003, devoting himself to Mineralogical Painting with a consistent commitment.
In Brescia he abandoned his initial figurative style and he directed his artistic research towards light and colour, the basic elements of mineralogical abstract art which came to life in large size canvas.
He was also strongly attracted to the plastic arts which led him to explore at the same time a new path and, since 1994 he attended the Vantini School in Botticino for three years which allowed him to transfer the mineralogical style into sculptural works.
In 2003 he settled permanently in his home town where he has been dividing his time (until present) between being an Art teacher and continuing to actively engage in a significant artistic research which has placed him in a considerable position in the Mineralogical Movement.
